Slow Cooked Pork

This is a recipe that you can start before going off to work and have ready by the time you get home at the end of the day!

Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Pork Shoulder (Picnic)
  • Salt
  • Chopped Herbs (Fresh is Best!) Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano
  • 1 Small Onion Chopped
  • 4 clove Garlic Crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Peppercorns Cracked

Directions

Serves 4 to 6 People

You need a Crockpot for this  recipe that will hold the meat. Basically, put the meat in then all the stuff in the recipe list above.

What’s cracked peppercorns? Put the peppercorns on a cutting board and lay your large knife on top and crunch down – cracking the corns. Then add them with the meat. Place lid solidly on Crockpot and set to High and let is sit about 8 hours. It may be ready within 6 hours depending on the Crockpot, but this is a hard one to mess up.

Finishing

The flavors and texture of the pork when it is done will blow your socks right off. The meat crumbles and you are left with a juis that is already perfectly seasoned. Serve on top of rice and add a little of the juis. An excellent side other than rice for a balance meal might be sweet corn or an easily prepared green veg like peas or green beans.
